I’m a final year Maths & Philosophy student. The questions I’m currently wrestling with revolve around the nature and extent of our self-deception, the different methods and styles philosophers use to achieve their desired ends, and ethics (in the broad sense of questioning how we should live). I tend to be interested in philosophers who, rather than just writing abstract philosophical theories, are concerned with spurring their readers to act and think beyond what they have written. This means that I’m primarily drawn to the works of Wittgenstein, Nietzsche and Kierkegaard. I also enjoy engaging with questions at the boundaries between philosophy and other disciplines such as psychoanalysis, mathematics, and literature. In my role as submissions editor I’m looking forward to working closely with our contributors and columnists, selecting and editing articles for publication.
